Project Manager / Operations Architectural Millwork

Do you possess the skills needed to transform our Chicago client's traditionally managed commercial millwork shop into a modern digital shop? We are seeking a dynamo Architectural Millwork Project Manager that will manage existing projects while taking on the additional role of change agent.

Our client is searching for a hard charging PM having several years of high end Architectural Millwork experience -as either a Project Manager, or shop manager.  This is a key leadership role and for the right person who expresses the talent and desire, the future presents several intriguing possibilities. This is a shop based position. The company fabricates projects primarily for office and bank interiors, using a wide variety of materials including, but not limited to stone, plastic laminate, glass, fabric panels, acrylic, metal laminate, domestic and exotic hardwoods and veneers, CorianĀ® and other solid surface materials performed on traditional and CNC machinery. 


  • The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of Project Management experience, with the ability to manage multiple projects on time and within budget.
  • The Project Manager is our business manager, ensuring that every detail is taken care of, project costs are understood and controlled; ultimately our jobs are profitable and our customers are completely satisfied.
  • You should be sufficiently skilled with auto/cad having some ability to create shop drawings. If you have design engineering skills that will be a huge plus.

What you need to succeed:

  • Candidate MUST have experience in the Architectural Millwork industry, including: AWI standards, architectural veneers and veneer sequencing, custom architectural cabinetry, and plastic laminate casework.
  • Preferred experience includes some of these: AutoCAD expertise, AWI, QCP, FSC, LEED, Microvellum
  • A thorough knowledge of the means and methods for the engineering, fabrication, finishing and installation of architectural woodwork, casework and millwork.
  • Bachelors degree preferred however vast experience and major accomplishments is most important.
